Dubai Police install sterilisation gate in Naif area

District is currently subject to two-week complete lockdown as part of Covid-19 restrictions

A sterilisation gate has been installed to safeguard residents entering and leaving the Naif area of Dubai.

The gate has been launched by Dubai Police as part of increased efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus in the heavily built up district of the emirate, which is home to a large proportion of low-paid workers and is currently subject to a two-week complete lockdown.

Brig. Gen. Tariq Mohammad Noor Tahlak, director of the Naif Police Station, said: “The preventive measures have been exercised in the entire police station of Naif, including sterilisation of all inmates to ensure their safety, and those who are found suffering from symptoms similar to those of Covid-19, are subject to examination and referred to isolation by the competent authorities.”

Tahlak appealed to everyone in the area to maintain personal hygiene and wear gloves and masks distributed among them.

Last month, it was revealed that Dubai Police was using drones to ensure citizens were abiding by strict social distancing rules and various closures, including beaches.

There are currently 3,736 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UAE, while the country has reported 20 deaths.
