South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking a dynamic and innovative Assistant Marketing and Social Media Coordinator to join our University Marketing and Communications team. This role is essential in driving the university's marketing initiatives and enhancing our digital presence. The Assistant Marketing and Social Media Coordinator will work closely with the Director of University Marketing and Communications. This role involves developing and managing social media assets, supporting university marketing initiatives, and providing digital strategy and marketing support. The successful candidate will be part of the University Marketing and Communications leadership team, playing a critical role in promoting SDSU's brand and increasing its visibility. This position is located in
Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
University Marketing and Communications serves as the central communications office for the university. We foster and expand relationships with internal and external audiences and align communications initiatives and messaging with the university's strategic direction and goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead and collaborate on marketing campaigns with external marketing firms and third-party vendors.
- Support internal marketing campaigns for the university's colleges and departments by identifying target audiences and utilizing appropriate channels.
Digital & Social Media Strategy:
- Develop and manage content strategies for the university's website ( sdstate.edu ) and social media channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and guide creative development for print, digital, and video assets.
- Provide resources and training to university social media managers.
Content Management:
- Create and manage content for Rabbit Food, the university's digital newsletter and blog for prospective students.
- Maintain an editorial calendar in collaboration with the Office of Admissions.
Performance Analysis:
- Track and analyze the success of marketing campaigns and social media engagement.
- Analyze customer insights, consumer trends, market analysis, and marketing best practices to build successful strategies.
- Evaluate and recommend marketing strategies based on new and evolving technologies.
Supervision:
- Supervise and oversee the Assistant Coordinator for Digital Media and the Digital Content Creator positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field completed by start date;
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience working as part of a marketing and communications team;
- Experience developing and implementing targeted, strategic marketing plans and campaigns that are creative and metrics driven;
- Experience with multiple social media platforms and managing comprehensive social media campaigns that produce positive results;
- Proficiency with social media platforms;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including word processing and basic knowledge of spreadsheets;
- Knowledge of HTML and experience with popular content management systems;
- Experience researching and accessing information online;
- Branding and marketing campaign familiarity;
- Excellent copy writing and editing skills; and
- Valid driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Master's degree in related field.
- Experience working with marketing agencies.
- Experience supervising employees.
