Job Summary and Qualifications

The Cardiac Cath Lab RN Manager ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives. The Cardiac Cath Lab RN Manager has multi-faceted duties which include: 

  • Integrating department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions; coordinate and integrate the services within Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Nuclear Cardiology, and Echocardiography with other departments
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services
  • Recommending a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care
  • Determining the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners
  • Continuously assessing and improving assigned area’s performance 
  • Maintaining appropriate quality control programs 
  • Providing for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the departments.
  • Functioning as the Chest Pain Center Coordinator, which includes: 
    • Acting as the cultural/educational PI processing champion for Chest Pain Accreditation. 
    • Participating in the Chest Pain Center Accreditation Team
    • Coordinating the process changes/improvements to meet current established standard guidelines for cardiac care
    • Offering annual education to staff and assisting the Education Department in providing Chest Pain information to new hires
    • Assisting in CV risk screening to internal and external communities annually, including EMS providers for focused community outreach
    • Participating in the budget process related to key elements of Chest Pain Accreditation
    • Serving as the designated cardiac data administrator to provide oversight of CV data abstraction, to ensure data accuracy and utilizes this data and quality metrics for evaluation of facilities clinical processes for the cardiac patient population. 

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice required
  • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire 
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience required
  • Strong management and leadership skills highly preferred
