Temple Sinai is a Reform Jewish synagogue located in the family-friendly community of Summerlin, west of Las Vegas. It is the spiritual home to roughly 400 families. Temple Sinai is a dynamic congregation with an extensive variety of services and programs to meet the interests and needs of our members. We come together to pray, to study, and to create and foster a warm sense of community. Temple Sinai is also home to the Shenker Academy, a premier early childhood school that prides itself on being pluralistic and diverse, serving children from 6 weeks through kindergarten.
We are seeking a Communications and Engagement Coordinator to support our programs and events, and to help implement and maintain an ongoing communication and brand strategy for Temple Sinai. This position will serve as staff liaison to our Programming Committee and be an integral team member for special events and projects. This position will also oversee and participate in producing internal and external communications in digital and print formats, including our websites, printed bulletin, weekly and event emails, flyers, social media, news releases, and promotional videos.
The successful candidate will have expertise in branding and creative communication strategies and business writing. Experience in grant writing is a plus. This full-time position reports to the Executive Director and works in close collaboration with the Clergy, Professional Staff, and Board of Trustees.
Marketing and Communications
· Oversee all communication strategies and tools, ensuring brand alignment and supervising output
· Update and maintain websites (Temple Sinai: Shulcloud; Shenker: Wordpress)
· Create and administer weekly E-blasts with staff input
o Friday Sinai Reflections
o Sunday Shofar Weekly
· Coordinate and serve as point person for printed Shofar newsletter
· Write and submit articles to the Israelite and other appropriate outside publications
· Coordinate print and digital publicity for all Temple Sinai programs and events in collaboration with appropriate staff and volunteers using the following formats:
o Flyers
o E-blasts
o Digital Promotional Kiosk
o Jewish Nevada Newsletters
o Other media as needed
· Create and produce brief promotional videos for special events
· Create signage as needed for building and events
· Publish special materials as needed (Annual Report, Religious School brochure, New Member packet, etc.)
· Coordinate public calendars
o Ensure that events are listed, described, and tagged appropriately on Temple Sinai online calendar
o Communicate major events to Jewish Nevada for inclusion in their Community Calendar
· Expand Temple Sinai's presence on social media platforms with consultation from Executive Director, Rabbi, and Executive Committee.
Program Support
· Assist with existing events and programs as needed (such as, but not limited to, special Shabbat celebrations, adult education classes, etc.)
· Assist with special events (such as, but not limited to, Community Seder, Temple Sinai Fundraiser, New Member Havdalah, Congregational Picnic, etc.)
· Liaison with committees as appropriately requested
Qualifications
A successful Communications and Engagement Coordinator will possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills, and have a highly developed capacity to innovate.
· Bachelor's degree in communications/marketing or related field preferred
· Two or more years of experience in a communications/marketing related position; non-profit experience is strongly preferred
· Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills
· Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
· Experience in using all Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint , and Outlook), Constant Contact, Canva. Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) preferred.
· Experience in or ability to master ShulCloud, (database, website and accounting software)
· Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X)
· Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
· Able to work effectively with a professional team and with lay leaders
· Solid design skills, digital photography/video skills (shooting/editing) preferred
· Knowledge of and familiarity with the Jewish community preferred
Compensation and Hours:
· Competitive salary based on experience.
