Since its establishment in 1927, the Department of Radiology has been committed to the advancement of human health through innovation in imaging and image-guided therapies and made enormous impacts on patient care, research, and education. The Department and field is evolving at a rapid pace and provides a rich source of content to communicate.
The Communications Specialist will primarily be responsible for developing compelling content for a variety of channels to highlight the Department of Radiology's accomplishments for both internal and external audiences. Responsibilities include: developing editorial plans; writing articles that translate the complex scientific and clinical work into effective narratives; collaborating with Communications Manager on strategy for public website and intranet to ensure optimal user experience; working with subject matter experts on web content; and building and maintaining a presence on social media. This position will report to the Communications Manager and work with the Vice Chair of Communications. A successful candidate will have a high level of accuracy and organization, demonstrated ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders, enthusiasm for learning about radiology, and dedication to growing as a communications professional.Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Bachelor's Degree
Preferred focus in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field OR equivalent level of experience in communications, health education, English, science writing, or related field.

The starting salary for the position is $60,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver. If you choose to pursue a waiver and apply for our position, neither the UW nor UWMF will reimburse you for your legal or waiver fees.
