The Founding Forward Deployed Engineer Role

As a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer at Fulcrum, you will own and lead implementing AI workflows using our Generative AI platform with customers to create millions in value. You will work closely with the founders, enterprise customers, and a world-class technical team to revolutionize the way enterprises operate.

We are looking for individuals who have been customer-facing, worked across the stack on incredible products, and are excited about building the future of the modern enterprise and GenAI products.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use an in-person work model and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end execution of high stakes projects : A day might span discussing architecture with fellow engineers, wrangling massive-scale data, coding a custom web app, speaking with customer executives
• Work on tuning our AI platform to customer requirements : Work with large language models of different kinds to juice out high level of effectiveness based on customer requirements
• Realize breakthroughs to enable novel AI-first workflows : A highly analytical approach and eagerness to solve technical problems with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools

About You:

• Strong technical experience : 1-2+ years of prior full-time industry experience in software development / solutions engineering, preferably with a focus on AI. Proficiency in one or more of Python, Typescript, Node, React, Next.js or similar languages
• Strong customer-facing experience : 2+ years of professional experience in a role that involved building alongside customers (e.g., previous founding engineer roles, founder, forward deployed / solutions role at another top-tier company like Palantir, Scale AI)
• Product mindset : You have a strong product mindset, can put yourselves in the shoes of a user and critically think through UX to ensure releases are well rounded
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment : Ability to collaborate efficiently in teams of technical and non-technical individuals, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving objectives and iteration with users
• Excited to wear multiple hats: You’re excited to iterate and work with customers, do product and release management all while shipping features fast
• LLM experience is a big plus : Have experience with leveraging LLM APIs
• Grit : experience working at early-stage startups is a plus

Bonus qualifications:

• Have experience with AI platforms and technologies, including generative models and LLMs
• Previous experience working in an early-stage startup or dynamic environment
