We are looking for a skilled Fraud Analyst to join our team in San Francisco, California. In this Contract position, you will play a pivotal role in detecting and mitigating fraudulent activity related to a fintech credit card product. This opportunity is ideal for professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy analytical challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews of credit card applications to identify potential fraud, including first-party, third-party, and synthetic cases.
- Monitor account activity and analyze flagged transactions to detect suspicious behavior using advanced rules engines.
- Take prompt action to minimize financial loss by investigating high-risk transactions and implementing effective fraud mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with customer support teams to address fraud-related inquiries and resolve customer service issues.
- Maintain detailed records of investigations and provide reports on fraud trends to support data-driven decision-making.
- Utilize industry-leading tools and technologies to enhance fraud detection and prevention capabilities.
- Stay updated on emerging fraud techniques and adapt strategies to combat evolving threats.
- Work effectively within a staggered schedule to ensure coverage and continuity in fraud monitoring efforts.
- Contribute to the development of workflows and processes that improve fraud prevention efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fraud analysis, preferably within fintech or startup environments.
- Hands-on expertise in credit card issuing, transaction monitoring, and fraud investigation.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make decisive judgments based on incomplete or ambiguous information.
- Experience with tools such as Effective, Sentilink, Socure, and Plaid is preferred.
- Must have experience with credit card applications.
- Proactive and adaptable mindset with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams.
- Confidence in navigating non-standard workflows and ambiguous scenarios.
