Overview: Prior experience in the diesel power generation sector is essential. We are seeking a Diesel Generator Service Technician with expertise in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing industrial diesel generators from top manufacturers like Cummins, CAT, Kohler, Generac, Detroit Diesel, MTU, and more, up to 2 MW capacity. This role requires a detail-oriented technician with strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and load testing, capable of ensuring generators operate at peak performance through regular maintenance and swift troubleshooting in the field.
Primary Responsibilities: - Preventive Maintenance:
- Carry out scheduled maintenance on industrial diesel generators from brands such as Cummins, CAT, Kohler, Generac, Detroit Diesel, MTU, and others, ensuring optimal operation of all components.
- Inspect and replace essential parts like filters, belts, hoses, and fluids following manufacturer protocols.
- Conduct thorough inspections to detect and address potential issues before they escalate.
- Component Replacement:
- Diagnose and replace defective or worn components, including engines, alternators, batteries, and control panels, specific to leading generator brands.
- Source and install OEM or approved replacement parts to maintain the reliability of the generator systems.
- Ensure all replaced parts comply with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Troubleshooting & Repair:
- Efficiently identify mechanical and electrical issues in diesel generators using diagnostic tools, software, and technical manuals.
- Perform timely repairs to restore generator functionality, reducing downtime.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurrent issues and develop preventive strategies.
- Load Testing & Calibration:
- Conduct load bank testing on generators up to 2 MW to verify their performance under various load conditions.
- Interpret test results to ensure generators from Cummins, CAT, Kohler, Generac, Detroit Diesel, MTU, and others meet operational power requirements.
- Adjust and calibrate equipment based on test outcomes to enhance generator efficiency.
- Record Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate service records, including maintenance logs, parts replacement history, and diagnostic reports.
- Provide comprehensive reports to the service manager on generator conditions, completed repairs, and recommended future maintenance.
- Keep organized documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Customer Service:
- Clearly explain maintenance and repair activities to customers.
- Offer advice on best practices for the operation and upkeep of their generator systems.
- Address customer inquiries and emergency service requests with professionalism and urgency.
