Job Description

LaSalle Network has partnered with our client in the healthcare industry for an exciting HCC Coder opportunity! As an HCC Coder , you will be responsible for accurately coding patient diagnoses using ICD-10 and mapping them to Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC). Your role will support risk adjustment and reimbursement processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. We are looking for someone who has recently completed their apprenticeship and gained hands-on experience in HCC coding.

HCC Coder Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10 codes
  • Map diagnoses to Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC) to facilitate accurate risk adjustment
  • Ensure adherence to coding guidelines, industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and clinical staff to obtain necessary documentation and resolve coding issues
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure coding accuracy and completeness
  • Stay current with updates to coding standards, guidelines and regulations
  • Provide coding expertise and support to team members as needed
HCC Coder Requirements:
  • 1+ year of recent HCC coding experience post-apprenticeship
  • Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or equivalent preferred
  • Proficiency in ICD-10 coding, HCC categories and risk adjustment models
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical abilities and effective communication skills
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment
