Job Description
Are you passionate about web development and eager to support a meaningful mission? We are looking for a Junior Web Developer to join our team and support the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) by providing top-notch website management and technical support.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining website functionality, ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, and assisting with various web-related projects. This position is fully remote, offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere.
Key Responsibilities:
Frontend Website Development and Maintenance:
Develop and refine site design and structure concepts within WordPress.
Create and update HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code to enhance website functionality.
Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, including Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Coordinate the upload of files to the OUSD(R&E) and IR&D Innovation Marketplace websites.
Conduct general content updates, changes, or deletions using WordPress.
Backend Website Development and Maintenance:
Collaborate with the development team to support WordPress CMS.
Research, review, upload, deploy, update, and maintain WordPress applications.
Work with the development team through all stages of deployment using the GITHUB interface.
Technical Support:
Assist with the migration of websites to the cloud and other hosting environments.
Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, ensuring optimal performance and security.
Provide technical support for website-related requests from the R&E Front Office and other departments.
Site Maintenance and Support:
Archive old web pages and integrate new sites or redesigns.
Add videos and upload content to DVIDS.
Update and manage public, high-level social media accounts.
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience or Master's degree with no experience in website design and development.
Proficiency in WordPress for website management.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Familiarity with coding in PHP.
Intermediate experience working with GITHUB.
Clearance Requirements:
Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
US Citizenship required.
Key Skills / Desired Experience:
Proficiency in WordPress, HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript.
Knowledge of DoD regulations and Section 508 compliance.
Excellent troubleshooting and technical support skills.
Strong communication and project management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.
Preferred experience in programming, web design, and database management for government/DoD organizations.
