Job Description

Overview:

Advance your career with FedWriters, named a 2024 Top Workplace by the Washington Post. As a Library Technician, youll support the organization and classification of library resources, gaining valuable experience and growth opportunities within a dynamic team.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in creating and updating metadata, catalog, archive, and vertical file records.
  • Correct, update, and normalize information in catalog or metadata records.
  • Check print and electronic inventory lists for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare physical items for circulation, storage, removal, or binding.
  • Assist in creating and editing bibliographic records using professional cataloging standards.
  • Update patron records to accurately reflect access to library resources.
  • Review and standardize archive metadata records.
  • Convert historical FDIC HTML documents to PDF documents.
  • Perform quality control to ensure the accuracy of records and files.
  • Attend weekly meetings to update progress and address assignments.

Qualifications:
  • Previous clerical experience (library experience preferred).
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, spreadsheets, and email).
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of library resources including online catalogs, electronic databases, websites, and bibliographies.
  • Familiarity with procedures involved in cataloging and classifying library materials.
  • Knowledge of library classification systems.
  • Ability to organize data accurately.
  • Ability to learn specialized applications common to the library.
