Responsibilities

Collaborating with a hospital in southern Massachusetts that has an opportunity for an Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant to provide locum coverage.

Opportunity Details:

• Schedule: 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 7a-5p, or 5p-3a

• No call required

• Setting: Emergency department with fast track

• Annual Volume: 55,000 patients

• 40% of patients treated by APPs in fast track

• Admission Rate: 15%

• Will respond to house codes

• Will be working autonomously

• Support Staff: MDs, APPs, extensive subspecialty support

• EMR: Epic

• Board certification required

• Paid travel & expenses

Qualifications

• Board Certified

• ​​​Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

• National Institutes of Health (NIH)

• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.

• Active unencumbered Physician Assistant Massachusetts state license

• Graduate from a fully accredited Physician Assistant program

• One year of work experience as a Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine

• One year of EMR experience

• Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.

• Participates in relevant continuing education programs.

• Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.

• Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.

• A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.

• Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
