*Position Summary: Assist with providing recovery support to consumers and
assist consumers with obtaining and utilizing natural supports and peer services.*
**Position responsibilities:**
1. Work with FEPI consumers to reduce psychiatric symptoms and facilitate their
return to a less restrictive environment.
2. Will provide Consumer care within the parameters of the Coordinated
Specialty Care (CSC) model.
3. Provide linkage and referrals to peer run drop-in centers and peer groups.
4. Provide follow-up contact with consumers upon discharge to ensure
discharge plan is working and assist consumer if discharge plan is not
working to develop alternatives.
5. Monitor consumers behavior, level of cooperation, and ability to remain safe
while in the community.
6. Support consumers in understanding their psychiatric diagnosis, treatment
and medications.
7. Support consumers and Care Manager with discharge and treatment
planning.
8. Consistently treat consumers and co-workers with respect.
9. Ensure timely and appropriate documentation as required by agency.
10.Develop and maintain community and MHC inter-departmental relations
through prompt follow-up with contacts.
11.Make customer service a priority with internal and external customers.
12.Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and consumers.
13.Maintain flexibility in the work place.
14.Attend and participate in staff meetings, training opportunities, team meetings
and supervision as required.
15.Discuss precipitating events and possible alternatives with each consumer.
16.When appropriate, advocate for consumers needs.
Other responsibilities:
? Responsible for attending all mandatory in-services, continuing education and
annual health requirements.
? Comply with all Corporate Compliance policies, practices and procedures.
Report all unethical activities to supervisor, Corporate Compliance Office,
Values Hotline number or Human Resource Director
? Comply with all OSHA and safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report
all unsafe practices or accidents to supervisor, Safety Supervisor and/or
OSHA Coordinator.
? Will be compliant with the relevant regulations concerning the privacy and
security of consumers protected health information (PHI) as established by
the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
? Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company
goals.
? Perform other duties as assigned.
? Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
? Follow all policies and procedures set by the Agency.
**Essential skills and experience:**
Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
**2 years of recovery time from a drug and alcohol addiction or mental illness.**
**Peer Recovery Specialist Training certification from the Tennessee**
**Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.**
Essential requirements for the position:
