Residential Property Accountant - Lawrenceville, NJ - $60-80k
Prior/current real estate/property accounting experience is required.
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Residential Property Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, specifically related to residential property management. You will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our residential properties, ensuring accurate record-keeping, financial reporting, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each property.
Analyze financial performance and provide insights to management.
Prepare budgets and forecasts for each property.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement.
Accounting Operations:
Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
Reconcile bank accounts and prepare bank reconciliations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Property Management:
Assist with property management tasks, such as rent collection, lease administration, and vendor management.
Coordinate with property managers to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Monitor tenant accounts and address any discrepancies.
Tax Compliance:
Prepare and file property tax returns.
Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Work with tax professionals to optimize tax strategies.
Other Duties:
Assist with audits and tax examinations.
Participate in special projects as needed.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
1-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the property management or real estate industry.
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, etc.).
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
