The Village of Sparta seeks dedicated individuals to join our Department of Public Works as Laborer and Maintenance Personnel. This role involves maintaining and repairing Village infrastructure, including water and sewer lines, streets, parks, and more. Responsibilities also include operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment facilities. We are willing to train the right individual for the position. General mechanical or farm experience considered a plus!
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Ability to obtain a State of Michigan CDL B-license with Air Brakes within twelve months (training paid for by the village and extra hourly wage received after training is complete)
· Willingness to work overtime and be on call
· Basic computer skills
Benefits:
· Competitive salary of $21.06 to $27.28 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional pay is available for those holding a CDL, Water, or Sewer License and can added up to as much $3.00 more per hour
