Summary:

We’re looking for a hands-on VP of Finance and Accounting to lead our high-performing team and report directly to our CEO. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, disciplined, reliable finance leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment to play a key role in the continued growth and success of a subscription, ecommerce company. Our goal is to  find a leader who can rise into the CFO position at the company over time. 

 

What you’ll do… 

FP&A

  • Prepare monthly FP&A package, investigate discrepancies, and provide variance explanations that lead to improved financial performance of the business over time. 
  • Partner with leaders across the company to develop an accurate and ambitious annual budget.
  • Own the company operating model to create frequent forecasts and scenario plans based on actual results and trends throughout the year, helping the team make better decisions. 
  • Be the champion of frugal and cost conscious spending across the company – carefully tracking and questioning expenses. 
  • Partner with senior leadership across all functions to drive financial discipline, efficiency, and accountability in decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and process improvements. 

Accounting and Financial Operations

  • Supported by the Controller, oversee the accounting function. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and timely month-end and year-end close process.
  • Monitor internal controls and processes to ensure audit readiness. Conduct a successful audit with our external audio partners on an annual basis. 
  • Manage treasury and cash flow forecasting in an error free and diligent manner. Carefully track and reconcile all cash in flows (from Braintree) and cash outflows on a daily basis.  
  • Oversee tax strategy, planning, preparation and compliance in collaboration with external advisors. Execute other required compliance filing in a timely manner. 
  • Drive industry-leading levels of automation via technology and AI, ensuring scalable and efficient financial processes.
  • Work closely with the SVP of People, Talent, and Recruiting to accurately execute Payroll and administer our self-insured benefits programs. 
  • Utilize software tools and automations to execute all of the above efficiently with a lean team (our primary software stack includes Netsuite, Ramp, Bill, and Rippling).

Strategic Finance

  • Work closely with the CEO and Executive Chairmen to evaluate our capital structure and execute debt financing arrangements that provide capital for growth opportunities. 
  • Assist sourcing and evaluating M&A opportunities.
  • Work on special projects to evaluate and improve corporate structure, managing advisor relationships as necessary. 
  • Lead other important projects to evaluate opportunities to improve the financial health of the business.
  • Develop and lead a high performing team of rising talent across the areas defined above.  

About you…

  • 8+ years of accounting experience with in-depth knowledge of GAAP, CPA a plus but not required. A stint at a big 4 accounting firm is also preferred but not required. 
  • Other relevant experiences include:
    • Finance at an entrepreneurial growth company including subscription, eCommerce, tech or DTC. 
    • Investment banking or private equity is a plus. 
  • A track-record of overseeing or working closely with  accounting and finance operations to deliver accurate and on-time financial statements and error free treasury function.  
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. 
  • Tech savvy and MS Excel power user. Experience with finance software including: Ramp, Netsuite, Bill, Rippling, Braintree/Stripe, and Tableau. 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and detail-oriented.  
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • People management experience for a team of 3-5 direct reports. 


 

Salary Range: $150,000 - $300,000
