Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation described the acts of sabotage as ‘a serious development’

The United Arab Emirates said Sunday four merchant vessels had been targeted by “acts of sabotage” in Gulf waters off its coast, amid rising tensions between neighbouring Iran and the US.
“Four commercial, civilian trading vessels of various nationalities this morning suffered acts of sabotage” off the UAE’s eastern coast, its foreign ministry said in a statement, without naming who was responsible.
There were no fatalities or injuries, and no spillage of harmful chemicals or fuel, UAE news agency WAM said
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said the matter is being investigated by relevant authorities in cooperation with local and international bodies.
The ministry said “carrying out acts of sabotage on commercial and civilian vessels and threatening the safety and lives of those on board is a serious development.”
